What You Should Know about Heat Pump Systems

What You Should Know about Heat Pump Systems

Unless you are building a custom home, you might not always have any input on which system you have in your house. Here is more information about heat pumps.

When it comes to heating your home, you have several options. One of them is to have central heating. Another is to inquire about heat pump systems. Unless you are building a custom home, you might not always have any input on which system you have in your house. Here is more information about heat pumps

Versatile

Heat pumps are versatile. This means that they can pull double duty in keeping your home comfortable. The reason for this? They can handle heating loads and cooling loads. With spring on its way, that will come as a relief. Once you have this system up and running, you won’t have to rely on old-fashioned boilers or furnaces anymore.

Dealing with Winter

Even though spring is two months away, we still have a long way to go before winter is over. One of the reasons many homeowners are hesitant to make this switch is because the pumps have a harder time keeping up in freezing temperatures. The amount of dew on the ground, also known as dewpoint, can also interfere with how smoothly your heat pumps run. Heat pumps work best in areas with mild winters, but that shouldn’t cause you to change your mind about them. The secret is to speak to your HVAC contractor about what your next steps should be.

No Ductwork Problems

With conventional HVAC systems, you might find that the ducts stop working after a while. This could be due to clogs or dirty filters. However, with heat pumps installed, you won’t run into any ductwork problems. Even without ducts in place, these units can still keep your home as warm as you want it to be. Plus, having ductless air handling units can make remodeling your home much easier later on. Adding extra bedrooms, finishing your basement, and turning your attic into an office-space room or loft-style room are all quicker and easier to do when you have ductless heat pumps!
