Problems You Might Experience With Your Air Conditioner

Here are some of the problems that your air conditioner might experience.

Air conditioning is a valuable asset to anyone’s home, and it becomes all the more necessary during summer due to the higher temperatures that come with the season. Sadly, air conditioners aren’t infallible, as they can encounter problems that stop them from operating smoothly. Here are some of the problems that your air conditioner might experience.

Dirty Filter

Sometimes, air conditioners won’t work because their filters are dirty or clogged. Follow the suggestions of the manufacturer to determine how frequently your air filter has to be changed. Some need to be changed, while others are reusable and simply need to be cleaned once they become dirty.

If you’re not sure whether or not your air filter is dirty, take a look at it and see if any light can pass through it. If light cannot get through your air filter, that’s a sign that it’s dirty.

Your Thermostat is Turned Off or Dirty

Sometimes, the thermostat for your air conditioner might be turned off. Other times, it could get dirty. In either case, this is fortunately a relatively easy fix. What you should do is check on your thermostat and be sure that it’s turned on. You also want to look at the interior of your thermostat and check for dirt. You should also make sure that it’s level while you’re at it. If none of these is the source of your problem, then your thermostat is not to blame.

Your Refrigerant is Leaking

It’s possible that coolant is leaking from your air conditioner. If this happens, your air conditioner won’t be able to keep your home at the proper temperature. No matter where the leak is located, you’ll want to get a professional HVAC technician to help you out.

You Have a Dirty Drain Line

Similar to your air filter, it’s also possible for your drain line to get dirty. If there’s too much dirt in your drain line, it causes the drain pan to get filled up with water. After that, water will start leaking out, which can cause damage to your air conditioner.
