Heating season is nearly upon us again. This past week saw the autumn equinox happen. And you know what that means! Even though it doesn’t seem like it, the humidity will be dropping away to be replaced by that crispy and enjoyable chill in the air. That said, you’ll want to be sure you have a top-of-the-line heat pump. If your home’s HVAC system does not have this component or hasn’t been inspected for a while, it’s time to change that. A hasty installation, though, can lead to frustration.
The Refrigerant Reserve is Depleting
Every HVAC system needs an adequate supply of refrigerant material. Without this valuable substance, it’s easy for the machine to overheat. The overheating will damage its components, and that could lead to costly repairs you don’t have the money to afford. Don’t let this issue happen to you. Foresight now avoids stress later. Why does having enough coolant matter? Because the refrigerant components extract ambient heat to produce that pleasant cooling effect.
The Ductwork is Leaking Too Much
How often do you replace the air filters in our home? If you can’t remember the answer to this question, it’s probably a good time to make the switch. Likewise, you should arrange for an inspection of your residential HVAC system’s ductwork. Leaky ductwork can impact the performance of the heat pump, leading to unsatisfactory results. The ducts help maintain pristine air quality. In other words, failing to maintain the ductwork is a bad idea and worse news for your energy bills. On the other hand, HVAC and heat pump installation experts can overcome this obstacle. How so? They’ll start by sealing the ducts. Should that not work, they’ll rebuild the entire system so that it is sufficiently airtight.
The Heat Pump Itself is Too Large
Then again, the root of the problem could be the heat pump. A reputable HVAC technician will help you size up the HVAC unit you need. They can also recommend the proper size of the heat pump, dependant on the size of your home. Oversized heat pumps tend to suffer from short cycling; this means it works much harder to achieve the same heating or cooling load demands. It also wastes energy which will pump up your utility bills. And not in a good way!
