How many rooms do you have in your house? And how many of those rooms have windows associated with them? Even when you live in an apartment, you could have multiple rooms that do not have windows as a part of them. As cooler weather outside approaches, you might think that cooling your home doesn’t matter as much. But we are here to tell you that stuffy, stagnant air is just as unpleasant as humid, sticky air is. Don’t let that ruin your enjoyment of the new season!
Add a Ceiling Fan Where There Isn’t One
One of the simplest ways to change your room configuration is to add a ceiling fan. You’d be surprised how much of a difference it makes. And you know what that means: no more relying on room fans to keep you cool and keep the air moving. Plus, it’ll save you money, and that is good news for your bank account and power bills!
Turn Off Lights and Appliances When You Don’t Need Them
This simple piece of advice for conserving electricity makes a dramatic difference as well. Artificial light and electrical appliances and devices give off heat, even when you aren’t using them. It might not be noticeable at first, but spend enough time in a windowless room with them, and you’ll find out why heating and cooling systems are so necessary regardless of the weather conditions outside.
Install a Through-the-Wall Air Conditioner
Unsurprisingly, residential windows can host window AC units (and so can commercial ones). But in some cases, that configuration might not be the most feasible. As such, consider investing in a through-the-wall air conditioner instead. It pushes air out through the exterior wall, which increases the cooling efficiency of the unit. Compared to a central AC system, this model gives you better cost savings and energy usage results. One caveat to watch out for, though, is to consult a reputable HVAC company to evaluate the area you want to install the unit. These experts can then determine if the through-the-wall system is the right fit for where you want it to go.
Consider Adding a Ductless AC System Instead
A ductless AC system could present an interesting alternative. This arrangement gives you the versatility and benefits of a conventional central heating and cooling system without having to deal with all of the ducts that can get in the way.
